Recently, I've been reading lots of miniaturist blogs (www.otterine.com, mitchymoominiatures.blogspot.co.uk, lastalliancestudios.blogspot.co.uk) and became inspired - I needed a yard. And not only did I need a yard, I had to be the one to make it (or at least most of it). I needed an opportunity to follow all those fun tutorials, and give everything a try or personal twist of my own! So, I purchased some supplies, and a barn is underway.
The whole thing is in 1/24 scale (Schleich, CollectA etc) as that's the scale in which I make tack, and the scale I show performance in. My traditionals are still a staple to my collection and quite easily my favourites, but when it comes to scale miniatures, less is more for me!

This is a doll house room box, that (not to spoil the illusion, but...) will hold two stalls and a small tack/all-sorts space, that I hope will be able to give the impression of potentially more stalls (see below - the section on the right in green is the section I am building, but the entire diagram is the illusion I hope to give in photos).
Further plans include an indoor and outdoor arena, full tack room, feed shed and office, as well as hopefully a stable block that I will build from scratch. I have one more doll house room box to use before everything becomes up to me.
Below is our 'paddock', which is a stone wall (created by H. Forrest) on a simple autumn diorama I made last year, with 'tree' and punched leaves on a grass mat base.

And, since nothing else has seen any progress as of yet, here's a small gallery of my favourite parts on the (still WIP) stables and the details they have received so far.
If you have any ideas for any of the yard, such as additional buildings or features, processes, links to blogs/videos etc, or would like to know more about anything, feel free to comment below!
